SCHOOL SYSTEM UPDATES

Asheville City Schools are looking at a soft target date of 10/28 for reopening of schools. The main challenge right now is access to water. ACS submitted an order for hand washing trailers and portable toilets for all schools on 10/9. Additionally, wells are being drilled at various school sites to try and provide potable water to school facilities. Bus routes may also see revision. ACS is planning on being back and operational before the water systems are repaired. ACS will provide a 72-hour notice before schools start back. [a]Would this be something applicable to this Doc, or where should this info be spread as it mainly pertains to people who left the area.

This might be a useful page. Kids displaced by natural disaster are considered homeless. Enrollment is immediate, even if you have no records, and your kid should be able to transition back to their original school with no issues.  (And it's federal, so it works the same way everywhere, even if kids cross state lines)

[b]Added.  TY!!  If you want to dig in further, could be cool  to direct caregivers as to which link addresses disaster specific info for kids displaced, etc.?

[d]Locations? Areas Served?

[e]All dates are out of date

[f]I have gone through and double checked for accuracy. What are we doing with strikethrough copy again?

[g]Thanks so much, Liz! Did you also confirm all of my strikethroughs should be archived?  Some of these were events for a specific date, but Diaper Bank of America?  Are they still providing a Hub for folks?  Is that ongoing?  What about the other locations that had end dates?

[h]As for the process with strikethroughs, that's actually a question I keep meaning to ask as well. @[email protected] or @[email protected] , could one of you please confirm? Once we confirm these should all be deleted, what is the process?

[i]On last update on main before migration, Emily said she asked in vetting for condition of this location. 10/4 10am

[n]What do we think?  Duplicate all volunteer opportunities on actual Category pages in "VOLUNTEER SECTION" of the page AND on Volunteer page of the website for easy quick referencing for folks?  OR???
